Last night My family and I had went to our very first WNBA Basketball game.

We had been to one professional basketball game before, but I have to tell you tonight’s game was a completely different experience.

When we got there, the first thing that surprised me was the fact that there were massage tables set up all over the Arena.

Apparently it was “Ladies Night” and in honor of that they were offering free massages which I would have totally taken advantage of IF I wasn’t still burnt. There were also other tables set up to get your nails painted, but this wasn’t as appealing to me as the massage.

We had amazing floor seats so we were able to really be in the game and interact with the team mascot. I got my share of silly string sprayed at me. We even has our own waitstaff to take our orders and bring our concessions out to us.

I was impressed by the family friendly atmosphere which was different from the NBA basketball game we had gone to before.

The little Shock people as
my husband has dubbed them were awesome. They did a great job of getting the crowd involved in the game experience.

It was a fun game to watch. The Shock and the Lynx were so close the whole game. But the Shock pulled a bit too far ahead for the Lynx to catch up. And let me just add that if you think that a girls basketball team can’t play as hard as a boys, you are wrong! These women were so agressive and ruthless.

The Detroit Shock won the game 91-83!

Once the game was over we were able to use our special passes to get a signed autograph from one of the players on the team. This is my one area of complaint. The lady who was directing the line was extremely rude.

After we waited in line for 20 minutes with these special passes that entitled us to autographs, she comes out of nowhere and is like “Hurry up people, one autograph only.” This wouldn’t be that big of a deal except for the manner in which she said it and the fact that she put herself between the fans and the player like she did. She didn’t allow for any kind of interaction.

As you can see from this picture she snatched my daughter’s shirt from her and handed it to the player and then stood between them the whole time. I thought this was in poor taste.

The player giving the autographs was so cool, she ignored the rude lady and gave us a few autographs anyways. My daughter wanted her shirt signed, and my son wanted his ticket signed. So everyone got what they wanted despite the moment of rudeness.

All in all we had an amazing night! And the Detroit Shock played awesomely.
