The plans for the Rubbermaid FastTrack garage makeover are coming along even if it has been rather slowly.

The first step was to get the shed up and the yard equipment out of the garage and into the shed.

My husband and I were able to get the shed put together fairly easily.  However there are a couple of things I want to point out.

  • When the directions say to make sure you are building your shed on a flat surface they are telling you this because otherwise it will be virtually impossible to snap the sides into the bottom of the shed floor.
  • There is a pointer in the directions that we overlooked that suggests using dishsoap to help force the snapping pieces together.  It’s not in the directions part of the instruction manual, so we overlooked it until we were just about through putting the shed together.

Other than those two points, I was surprised at how easy it was to get this together.  It probably took us about three and a half hours to get it built.

The next step was to organize the inside of the shed to make the best use of all of the extra space we now found ourselves with.

This was the area that I had complete creative control over.

I used this yard tool organizer to store all of the rakes, shovels, brooms, ect.

Then I put up some shelving from this Rubbermaid Closet Kit on one side of the shed.  This took me a while, but eventually I got it and the results are great.

I used a few of the FastTrack tool hooks to hang up the weedwacker, wheelbarrow, and rake.

The interesting thing about the Rubbermaid shed is that they have these wall anchor things that slide into premade spot all around the sides of the garage.  You actually screw your hangers or shelving into the wall anchors.  You never screw into the shed itself.

It took me a couple hours to get the inside of the shed together the way I liked it and knew that it would be completely functionable.

This is the shed that we have, and  is available exclusively from Lowes.

Now that that part of the garage makeover is over we can turn our focus to the actual garage.

I have a pile of Rubbermaid products sitting in there right now just waiting for us to find a time to put it all together.  We had hoped to do it this weekend, but the kids and the heat are begging for the pool first so that’s what we are going to do.

But maybe sometime this week or next weekend we’ll move onto the garage.

It is going to be a huge task, but the end result will make it so worth it.

If you haven’t seen just exactly what we are up against,

Looks great! What a great way to get organized and looks like it wasn’t that hard to put together ( beyond finding a flat space).
This is really cool that you got to do this review!! Enjoy
