My beautiful front loader washer broke several weeks ago, and we finally had a repairman come out to tell me my 4 year old front loader that I couldn’t wait to own need the entire computer brain replaced to the tune of $450!!  This is after I paid him $68 to tell me the bad news.

He also told me that he recommended replacing the washer for a super cheap top loader because according to him front loaders are junk.  My husband has a friend who owns a used appliance store that tried to tell us the same thing back when we were so determined to have one of these cute shiny new washers.

Needless to say, we are opting for a new washer instead, since we can get a decent top loader for the same price we would spend to fix our front loader.

Thankfully Home Depot has released their Black Friday prices on appliances early!

These prices are only available while supplies last.

All freestanding electric refrigerators, ranges, washers & dryers are eligible for free delivery & free basic hook up service. Plus they will haul away the old ones FREE!

If you’re in the market for a new appliance check out these deals while they are still available.

I got a front load washer maybe 10 years ago. After 4 years the thing quit working and they had to replace the whole drum. You could not believe the amount of detergent plastered on the backside of that thing. We got the new steam washer front load about 4 months ago. So far I like it but it uses very little detergent. Wish i had read this first though cuz it was really expensive.

  2. Our appliance repair guy told us to go with LG, as anything made by Whirlpool (or any of their brands) is junk. ;) Wish he’d told us THAT before we bought our Duets. To be fair, though, our front loader has lasted us ten years now…but we have repaired it at least six times. Fortunately, we’ve been able to fix it ourselves (read that hubby has fixed it. lol) The dryer died at least 4, maybe 5 years ago, so we got an old one that probably uses a ton of electricity.

  3. I knew I stayed with the top loaders for a reason :-)
