Tonight we put an offer on a new home!

Almost 14 years ago my husband and I did this for the first time and I have to say it is so different this time around.  It’s hard to believe that not too long ago a bank would never have given us a chance and today they are falling over themselves to help us buy our dream home.

You see we were almost 20 years old with a 4 year old and a 6 month old.  We were very young, and my husband was the sole provider.  All we wanted was to give  our kids a backyard.  This has been a great home for us and we have so many memories, but we never intended to stay in this house.

It is small, and those little ones we had have since grown up and take up much more space than when we first moved in.

But in the time between when we moved into this house and now we have gone on a financial journey.

Shortly after we moved into this home we started to get lots of credit card offers and of course we took them all and maxed them out.  We also took on a brand new car payment.  We were spending lots of money that we didn’t have and eventually we found ourselves trapped in the creditors web.

We were two months behind on our mortgage payment, car payment, and several credit card payments.  It just came to the point that we could no longer keep up with the lifestyle we were living but could not really afford.

We were young and thought we should just do what we saw everyone else around us doing.

We had to take drastic steps not to lose our home.

In fact my husband worked out of town for almost a year to get us out of all of our credit card debt and current on the mortgage and car note.

Just a few years ago we were so close to losing our house, but we have completely Changed Our Financial Perspective and with small steps over the last couple years we will hopefully be purchasing our dream home in the next couple weeks!

And the best part is this is one we CAN afford!

I’ll share more about the house after the offer has officially been accepted.
