We usually take a break from our ordinary schooling during the month of December for some spontaneous spur of the moment activities.
It’s not that we completely stop school altogether. But we do school in creative ways using special unit studies, advent bible studies, crafts, baking, visiting, and more.
I don’t feel so tied down to my schedule and that’s a nice thing during this season when the most important things have nothing to do with math and spelling. I love to take this time to teach my things about our Lord. How he loved us, and how we are to love others.
Here are a couple of some great Christmas activities.
I shared this Free Advent Bible Study a few days ago here.
Free Christmas Crafts Books are great to have on hand and make nice gifts.
One of my favorite things about homeschooling is the ability to arrange the schedule in a way that suits us personally. After the first two years of homeschooling I realized that if I scheduled a regular school load during the month of December, I was simply setting all of us up for failure.
Because we enjoy being able to volunteer, visit others, and spend as much time as we want baking and decorating, I just let go of the schedule.
Taking a Christmas Break works for me!
