One of the best things about salt is that it’s inexpensive and you can find it just about anywhere.

So for example, if you need an all-purpose cleaner but happen to be out…as long as you have salt on hand you can make it yourself! Want to know how? Check out some unexpected uses for salt.

MAKE AN ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER

In a spray bottle, mix together 1 part vinegar and 1 part water with a tablespoon of salt. Swish it around until the salt dissolves and spray to clean any non-sensitive surface.

TEST HOW FRESH YOUR EGGS ARE

Not sure how long your eggs have been in the fridge? Put 2 teaspoons of salt in a cup of water and put the eggs gently inside. If the egg floats it’s time to toss it. If it sinks to the bottom it can go back in the fridge.

KITCHEN SPONGES NOT LOOKING THE BEST? SOAK THEM OVERNIGHT IN A MIXTURE OF ONE QUART OF WATER AND ¼ CUP OF SALT.

By morning they will be looking brand new!
