Today was the day that I was supposed to hear the good news from my doctor announcing that all of the previous procedures had worked and I was all better.
I was completely taken by surprise when she said, you still have high-grade cells present. Apparently the LEEP was unsuccessful at removing all of the precancerous cells from my cervix.
My doctor said that she removed as much as was possible but there were “unclear margins”.
Basically this means it wasn’t enough and now I just have to wait a few months for everything to heal completely to see if we need to start all over again or move onto the next option, which is a hysterectomy.
I am discouraged and frustrated today, to say the least.
Also, I am wondering why bother with all these procedures when a hysterectomy would be one procedure and everything would be good?
I was expecting the LEEP to take care of everything. I didn’t even realize there could be a possibility that it wouldn’t work. All I can do now is pray that while we wait, God performs a miracle.
If you have ever had a LEEP procedure done that returned bad results I would love to hear about your story from you. Feel free to email me krsawicki@yahoo.com
