Returning from vacation is always a bit of a rollercoaster, isnโt it?
On one hand, I felt refreshed, recharged, and full of new ideas.
On the other handโฆ getting back into the groove was tough.
The first couple of days this week, Iโll admit, I dragged my feet.
The to-do list looked longer than ever, and my motivation felt like it had stayed on vacation without me!
But hereโs the thingโonce I pushed through that initial slump, something amazing happened: I got so much done.
What helped? A few simple things:
- Starting small: Instead of diving headfirst into the biggest tasks, I tackled the easy wins first. Crossing off even the smallest items gave me a boost and built momentum.
- Setting a timer: I told myself Iโd work for just 20 minutesโno pressure. But once I got started, I found my flow and ended up working longer than I planned.
- Giving myself grace: Itโs okay to not feel 100% right away. I reminded myself that easing back in is part of the process.
By the end of the week, I was amazed at how much I had accomplished.
Sometimes, the hardest part is just getting started.
But once you do, things have a way of falling into place.
If youโre struggling to get back into your routine after a break, know youโre not aloneโand youโve got this!
Still, I do find myself daydreaming of this magificent place every now and again!
Weekly Wins
My big win this week was getting all caught up on my college classโwhat a relief!
I was feeling pretty behind after vacation, and that to-do list wasnโt getting any shorter.
Even though Excel isnโt exactly my favorite thing right now, Iโm slowly starting to get the hang of it.
There were definitely moments when I wanted to throw my laptop out the window (who knew spreadsheets could be that frustrating?), but sticking with it has paid off.
Itโs definitely been a challenge, but seeing progress feels pretty rewarding.
One step at a time, right? And hey, maybe by the end of this class, Iโll even like Excelโฆ but letโs not get ahead of ourselves!
Favorite Find
These Date Idea Scratch-Off Cards are this week’s favorite find.
They make planning date night fun and easy too!
I shared them in a Facebook Live in our private group here, if you’d like to see them up close.
The basic idea is that each time you’re planning a date night, you flip the coin to see who gets to pick.
Whoever gets to pick can choose a scratch-off date idea.
Each card lets you know what time of day the date is meant to be, how long it should take, and how much it might cost.
There are lots of FREE date Ideas, which I love.
What I’m Watching/Reading/Listening to:
We started watching the newest season of The Night Agent on Netflix this week.
Usually we like to watch something that we can fall asleep to or ignore and scroll on our phones, but this show is so good that we don’t end up falling asleep.
Brought together by a midnight phone call, an FBI agent and a cybersecurity expert must unravel an ever-growing web of political conspiracies.
It’s been really good so far and I haven’t had to use the remote to fast forward anything, so that’s always a good thing!
What have you been watching lately?
So, thatโs been my weekโgetting back into the swing of things, juggling schoolwork (ugh, Excel!), and planning to sneak in some fun with those scratch-off date cards.
Life after vacation might feel a little wobbly at first, but trust me, once you find your rhythm again, it feels so good.
Now Iโm curiousโhow do you bounce back after a break?
Any tips or routines that help you get motivated?
