With the way things are going for so many families, people are finding themselves draining savings accounts for survival.
If you are lucky enough to have a savings, that is.
The reality for many families is the struggle of trying to figure out what to do when your funds are almost gone and you have no idea when you will have more coming in.
Here are a few tips to help you make it through when your money is running low.
Redo your budget from the ground up.
Write down everything you owe and the expenses you need to cover for basic survival.
Allocate the money you do have into where it is needed most for survival.
Figure out what you absolutely need to make it. Worry about those essentials first and work your way out of the hole as you can.
Cut out unnecessary expenses.
While this is difficult when you feel like you have already cut everything there is to cut you may find yourself struggling to find things you can spare.
Still, you may be surprised what subscriptions and such you have that you can live without for a while.
Make phone calls to the companies you owe money to.
This means your mortgage, car loans, gas, power, and water companies.
See what programs are available to help.
Flat out tell them what is going on and ask for extensions on payments.
Once you figure out where you are going and what you need, turn your focus to looking for extra ways to earn money.
Even small amounts of money here and there driving Uber or Lyft, delivering groceries with Shipt or Instacart, or selling things you no longer need can help turn things around for you.
This is best to dive into when your funds are almost gone rather than waiting until they are gone and you do not have enough to spare on gas and other necessities to take on the extra small side jobs.
