Red White and Blue Berry Trifle Recipe

This Patriotic Berry Trifle is the perfect addition to a summer barbecue.

Berry Trifle Ingredients

  • Angel food cake 
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Powdered sugar 
  • Heavy cream 
  • Cream cheese
  • Sugar

Note: This recipe can also be made using pound cake instead of angel food cake if you prefer that.

How to Make Berry Trifle

This is a quick walkthrough of how easy it is to make trifle with angel food cake.

Step 1: Place two cups of strawberries into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Strain strawberry liquid through a sieve to remove any seeds. Set aside.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, mix heavy cream on medium – high speed for 3-4 minutes.

Pause to scrape the sides and add in the powdered sugar.

Continue to mix on high for another minute.

Step 3: Leave about ยฝ cup of the whipped cream in the mixing bowl and transfer the rest into a piping bag or smaller bowl and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Step 4: In the same mixing bowl, add the cream cheese. Mix on medium-high speed for 1 – 2 minutes.

Step 5: Pause to scrape the sides.

Add the white sugar and ยฝ cup of the strawberry liquid and continue to mix for another 1 – 2 minutes.

Transfer to a bowl or piping bag.

Step 6: Crumble the angel food cake into small pieces and slice the remaining 1 cup of strawberries to use as decorations for the sides of the cups.

Step 7: To assemble, place a layer of angel food cake on the bottom.

Line the outside with sliced strawberries and place the strawberry cream cheese in the middle.

Step 8: Add another layer of angel food cake, then a lawyer of whipped cream and a layer of blueberries.

Repeat the layers again – angel food cake, line with strawberries, fill the center with cream cheese and top with whipped cream.

Step 9: Place in the refrigerator until ready to eat and enjoy!
