Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away and that means Black Friday is already on the horizon.
On Black Friday, retail stores will have huge discounts on products, available through their brick and mortar stores and/or online as well.
The deals you see will be very tempting, but there are certain things that you might need to avoid purchasing during Black Friday sales:
Christmas Decorations
Christmas will be fast approaching by the time Black Friday rolls around, and there will be a lot of Christmas stuff sold on that day but it’s actually not the best time to purchase Christmas decor.
Most stores sell their Christmas themed items at a lower price when Christmas is closer, and at an even lower prices after Christmas Day.
They’ll still be discounted on Black Friday, but the prices will be higher, it’s best to wait, if you can.
Winter Clothes
You might be tempted to buy winter clothes such as coats on Black Friday.
While there will definitely be sales on winter clothing, it’s not the best time.
Wait until after Christmas when all the winter items will be on deep sale.
You can still buy winter clothes on Black Friday, but January would be the best time if you need to buy clothes.
Electronics
Those who wait for the Black Friday sales are often looking for electronic gadgets first, with most of them aiming for big screen TV’s or gaming consoles.
These types of items will be sold at a huge discount on Black Friday, but it’s not the best time to buy them.
We all know there are deep, often ridiculously low prices on TV’s on Black Friday, but they are usually all off brand, and lower quality.
If you’re looking for a deal on a name brand TV, then your best bet is to wait until after the holidays.
That would be the time when stores would sell them at a better discount in order to make room for incoming new models and to move any excess that didn’t sell over the holidays.
The same can be said for other gadgets, especially digital cameras.
Toys
Toys are another item that will be on sale on Black Friday and the sales will be vying for your Christmas toy needs.
However, once again this is not the best time to buy them.
The best time to buy toys would be in the middle of December, as this is when stores slash toy prices by sometimes half.
Try to take note of the prices of toys as well as store’s ad matching and return policies.
Often using the ad matching policy you can get a great deal at your favorite store on just what you’re looking to purchase.
Furniture
Black Friday may give you the opportunity to buy that new sofa you’ve been looking at, but yet again this is an item that it’s better to wait until after the holidays to purchase.
By that time, newer models will be out and older designs will be sold at a lower price.
It doesn’t mean you can’t buy anything for your home during Black Friday.
You can take advantage of great sales on home furnishings like desks, lamps, etc.
Fitness Equipment
Retailers know that the holidays make us splurge on our diets, so they are ready with Black Friday sales to help us get back in shape.
Here again, this is not the best time for this type of purchase.
Stores typically sell their fitness equipment at a huge discount when January rolls around.
In January, there is a big push to get fit again and stores will take advantage and have great sales on their fitness equipment.
Near the end of January the “New Year’s Resolutions” wear off and less fitness equipment is being sold, so the prices will drop even further to clear them out.
Jewelry
While jewelry as a Christmas gift will definitely put a smile on your loved one’s face, it’s again not the best time to purchase it.
Rest assured there will be no shortage of advertisements and deals on jewelry, but bide your time to get the best deal.
Spring or summer would be the best time of year to purchase jewelry, or if you can wait until Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day.
Those two dates often have some of the best deals of the year in terms of a jewelry purchase.
Black Friday is a much anticipated shopping date and there will definitely be some great deals.
But, if you’re trying to get the most bang for your buck, don’t purchase the items mentioned above on Black Friday.
