Muffin Tin- Bug Theme Lunch
Need a fun idea for the littler ones that they are sure to gobble up? I can put just about anything in a muffin tin and my toddler will eat it. There’s just something about a pint sized buffet that makes lunch more appealing. Today we went with a bug theme. A quick raid of the craft bin and I came up with a simple butterfly drink. The caterpillar was simply a piece of butter bread cut out using this cute little set of cookie cutters I have.
I was going for a bumble bee with the little Oreo and banana stacker with blueberry eyes, not sure I quite achieved bee-ness but it definitely looks buggy right? I happened to have a box of this cute bug macaroni on hand. We really love the flavor and I love throwing as much organic into our diet as I can.
I definitely saw a sweet little lady bug in the mini Baby Bell cheese- Just a little fill in with my sharpie. Since the wax cover is so thick I felt comfortable using a sharpie on her food, if you don’t you can do this with food safe markers too.
I took traditional dirt and worms and made it a little healthier by using yogurt in place of more cookies, and just a single gummy worm. I may have been reaching with the grapes- I was thinking of roly-polys maybe you call them pill bugs?
****Are you enjoying the lunch posts by Jody series? All I can think is how much my kids would have loved these. They got plain old Peanut Butter and Jelly. Although sometimes I did cut off the crusts 😉
I think this lunch would be great with a bug themed science unit for homeschoolers too!
