We don’t spend much time on Art studies in our homeschool these days, but we did implement this for several years.
I’ll never forget when we were walking around a garage sale one day and my daughter who was around 12 at the time spotted the artwork of Mary Cassatt, the artist we had just finished studying.
It was a piece of work that she had never seen, but she recognized it because she was exposed to so many of her other pieces.
So I am excited to share The Google Art Project with you today!
“it allows web browsers to wander the halls of 17 museums around the world (New York City’s MoMA, Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, and others)”
You will have the ability to study different pieces of artwork from your computer. I was extremely impressed with the zoom capabilities.
You’ll also be able to experience different museums from around the world as though you were really there.
There is also an area for you to create and share your own works of art.
Disclaimer: I have not thoroughly checked out this site so you may want to preview it before looking at it with your children. Some art may be unsuitable for certain ages.
