How to Make Reese’s Peanut Butter Trees
Full steps on how to make these chocolate Christmas Tree desserts are listed below, this is just a quick walk through.
Step 1: Mix up the peanut butter, butter, vanilla, brown sugar and salt.
Step 2: Once combined slowly begin mixing in the powdered sugar.
Do just a little at a time, this will get harder to do the more sugar you add.
Step 3: Pour the mixture into a prepared 8×8 baking dish.
Press the mixture into the pan in a smooth even layer, using the back of a spoon.
Step 4: Next you’ll need to freeze the bars.
Once firm, use the tree cookie cutter to cut out your peanut butter treats.
Then freeze again, to harden before moving onto the chocolate step.
Step 5: Next you’ll need to melt your chocolate. You can do this in the microwave, just be careful not to burn it.
I like to do 30 seconds at a time, then stir and repeat, until smooth and creamy.
Then you can begin dipping each tree, one by one, in the chocolate.
Make sure to allow the excess chocolate to drip off.
Step 6: Once the trees have been dipped, place in the fridge in a sealed container to set up.
Variations To Recipe
- Use different shaped cookie cutters to make different shaped Reese’s. A star or even a Santa could be a lot of fun too.
- Dip in white chocolate instead of milk chocolate.
- Add sprinkles on top to decorate your Christmas trees.
- Take your leftover melted chocolate and drizzle it over the trees to add more decoration to the top of the trees.
Storing Peanut Butter Trees
These peanut butter Christmas trees need to be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
They will last for around 7-10 days in the fridge. But they go really fast at our house.
Or if you want place them in a proper container and freeze them for up to 6 months.
Then when you want one remove from the freezer and let thaw in the fridge overnight.
Or place on the counter for about an hour.
Common Questions About Making Reese’s Trees
I think they taste very similar to the famous Christmas tree dessert. If you are a love of chocolate and peanut butter I think you will enjoy these greatly.
Absolutely! Go right ahead and double or even triple the recipe if you would like. Just whip up as many of these desserts as you would like.
So the thing about natural peanut butter is it is a lot more liquidy. If you use natural you are going to adjust the powdered sugar ratio to fit the right texture. You want the peanut butter dough to be formed and easy to handle. That way it holds shape of the tree cookie cutter.
